We visited Corrie Fee with two friends who had not been there before, Kacper and Anna.
As always, the experience was wonderful.

Wedding Anniversary in Applecross
Weather was ideal, unlike the rest of the country at the same time!
Superb scenery, great food and excellent beer make this one of the best places in Scotland to relax.

St Kilda

The highlight of our holiday was the trip from Leverburgh on Harris to the island of St Kilda.
St Kilda is a world heritage site and it is easy to see why. Although the weather was not perfect - the three hour journey from Leverburgh was pretty bumpy! - we were both blown away by the remoteness and grandeur of all the islands.

We travelled with Kilda Cruises run by Angus Campbell and would recommend the experience to anyone.

The Uists and Benbecula

We left Vatersay on Saturday morning to travel on to Harris.
We went via the ferry from Barra to Ersikay then drove up the causeways between Ersikay, South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist.
We spent the night at the only pub in the Western Isles listed in the Good Beer Guide! The Westford Inn at Cladach Chireboist. Excellent Isle of Skye ale!!

The Island of Mingulay
Mingulay is a deserted island, which is cared for by the National Trust for Scotland. You might have heard the Mingulay Boat Song. You can take boat trips from Castlebay on Barra to Mingulay, which is what we did on a perfect summer's day.
This island is very special! The third highest cliffs in the UK (around 250 metres), peace and serenity as long as you don't disturb the birds.

The Vatersay Walk

There is a walk of about 4 miles, which takes you round most of the southern part of the island.
The weather was terrific and the walk is highly recommended. There are a number of points of interest:
A memorial to those who died when the Annie Jane sank in 1853.
The remains of a bronze age hill fort.
The now deserted village of Eorasdail. This was built by the "Vatersay raiders" - crofters who had to leave neighbouring islands and came to Vatersay to establish a new life.

Sightseeing flight from Barra to Benbecula
The airport on Barra is on a beach. This makes the sightseeing return flight to Benbecula a must when you visit the island.
Unfortunately, the weather was not great the day we went but still an unforgettable experience!

Hebridean Holiday

After we left Onich, we headed for Oban and caught the ferry to Barra (Barraigh). A 5 hour trip but worth it. We drove the four miles from Castlebay to Vatersay (Bhatarsaigh), our home for the week.
Vatersay is the home of the world famous Vatersay Boys. You can listen to a 30 second taste of their music.
Video of our first day on Vatersay can be seen on YouTube.
Steve is 50!

We spent a lovely couple of days with Steve, Annette, Chris and Mum in a lodge at Birchbrae, Onich.
This was to celebrate Steve's 50th birthday. We had a terrific meal at the Inn at Ardgour and some relaxing walks.
A wonderful family occasion.

Today (Saturday), we listened to Malinky in the the Black Abbott.
Then to the George for some Blues.Daniel Smith and T Bone
A key to the highway. Dick Frost are you listening? Clapton's version!!
Finished the night in the Market Arms - cajun type music - Boogaloosa. Terrific day but more ill considered dancing!!

May Bank Holiday Weekend
We spent two glorious days in Perthshire on May bank holiday.
First day - walked near the Hermitage trail - which has the distinction of the tallest tree in the UK!
In the evening, we had a lovely meal and even nicer beer! We both recommend the Braveheart from Moulin Brewery.
Day two - wonderful weather!! Climbed up Birnam Hill - which gives 360 degree views for miles.

Easter Visitors
We were fortunate to have delightful young visitors staying over Easter - Simon (from Australia) and Bobi (from the US of A).
Despite the weather, we managed to show them a good bit of Scotland. Why not check out the video and stills on YouTube?
